Saga IV · Northern Union

Union of Seven Banners

Year: Iron Storm Campaign · Location: Broken Pass Plain

For years, seven northern clans had sharpened blades against each other. Small land disputes, old blood feuds, stolen supplies—every story ended with fresh anger. No one wanted to sit at the same table.

Then the Black Fleet came from the east. They respected no treaty and no oath. They burned harbors, emptied villages, and threw winter stores into the sea. That day everyone saw the same truth: divided, they would be erased one by one.

The great council was called at Broken Pass. Seven jarls sat in a half-circle. Bjorn, the quietest among them, placed only one thing on the table instead of giving a speech: a shattered shield.

"This shield broke alone. Put eight shields side by side, and no axe gets through."

The first hours were harsh—insults, old accusations, arguments close to fists. Astrid let each leader speak and recorded every word. Then she read one line: "If you do not make peace today, tomorrow there will be no mouth left to speak your names."

Ragnar unfolded the war plan: three fronts, two false retreats, one night strike. Helga took charge of supply lines. For the first time, the other clans saw that Yggdrasil was not only fierce, but disciplined.

The pact was sealed before dawn. Each clan kept its own banner, but on battle day only one would fly above the line: Vikings of Yggdrasil. It was not surrender; it was survival under shared command.

The war lasted two days. The first day was costly. On the second, a night raid broke the Black Fleet's central camp. When enemy ships were set ablaze, the northern horizon turned into a red wall of fire.

After the victory, nothing returned to the old ways. The seven clans remained independent, yet a union was born—one that answered the same call in times of crisis. And when that call rose, everyone spoke the same name: Yggdrasil.
